Our 1 (and a half) Year Raleigh Photoshoot with Sarah Morrel Photography

I’m back, y’all. I apologize for my temporary hiatus. I have no good excuse other than to say I got lazy. Busy, too…but mostly lazy. I promise I’ll do better!

I love the idea of taking pictures every year for your anniversary. I love being able to see how much you’ve grown and changed over the years. Sure, you take pictures together throughout the year, but I am a sucker for professional photography on my wall. Plus, if your husband is like mine, the best way to get several decent pictures of him (not making funny faces, etc) is to force him into a photoshoot. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the funny face pictures! Luckily for Len, one of my favorite Raleigh photographers (like most photographers) offers mini sessions, so he only had to suffer for about 20 minutes instead of 2 hours (apparently our engagement session was too long :P).

Sarah Morrel is a great friend of mine. We met in college at App State when she asked me to model for her for a class project. A lot of my favorite photographers came from App. I have several other extremely talented photographer friends that I met in school as well. Sarah’s sister, Emily, was so kind enough to join us so she could take Zoey while we were taking pictures without her. Zoey was not happy when she wasn’t allowed in the photos…but we of course had to include our child in some of them!

We decided to take the pictures at Dorothea Dix Park. We had never been, but once I did a Google image search, I immediately said YES! It is a big open field right on NC State’s campus with several trees and a beautiful view of the Raleigh skyline. How perfect to have the skyline of the city we lived in together for the first year of our marriage in the background of our 1 (and a half) year photos?!

Sarah did an AMAZING job in such a short amount of time. I couldn’t be happier with them! So, without further adieu, here are some of my favorites from our Raleigh Photoshoot.

For those of you asking, no, we did not include the cats in the photos. Our cats don’t do well on a leash (yes, we have tried) and there is no way they would pose for a picture. We could barely get Zoey to sit still!
