If you read my very first blog post about the Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer, you know that I have become concerned with the ingredients in my beauty products. We don’t think enough about what we put on our skin, which goes directly into our blood stream. While there are over 1,300 ingredients and chemicals banned in Europe, there are only 11 in the US. Regulations in our country for the products we consume and apply are not strict enough, so we have to be extra careful. Check ingredients lists, do your research, stay informed! Clean beauty brands are so important to find!
It’s hard to do, trust me, I know. I am still struggling with it. Most of my favorite products at Sephora are so bad for you! It’s very difficult to give them up, and very upsetting, if I’m being honest.
During my hunt for clean beauty brands, I have found several that are great. These 3 in particular have become a regulars in my daily routine. Today, I’m going to share those with you along with my favorite products from each!
1. Beautycounter
No surprise here, right? Out of these 3 clean beauty brands, Beautycounter has the most to offer. Between makeup, hair care, and body/skin care, they offer it all. If you choose to, you can use them as your one-stop shop for all your beauty needs. They have created a whole list of chemicals and ingredients that they do not use in their products called The Never List. Reach more about the company here.
My Favorite Beautycounter Products
Beautycounter Cleansing Balm // $80
I LOVE this stuff. I first received a jar of this stuff in one of my Popsugar Must Have boxes (before I even knew what Beautycounter was). I have terribly dry skin, especially in the winter. Not only did this do a wonderful job with cleaning all of the makeup and dirt off my face, but it helped moisturize my face. No ugly flakiness! You can reapply some of this before bed as a nighttime hydrating balm, too! I only wish it was a little cheaper.
Body Wash in Citrus Mimosa // $24
This works just as well as any other body wash, but it’s totally clean! And it actually smells like a mimosa. Every shower takes me to a weekend brunch on the beach. Amazing!
2. Shea Moisture
I am SO excited about this brand for two main reasons: 1. It can be found by taking a quick trip to Target. 2. It doesn’t break the bank. One of their best products is only $5! Their all natural products all score only a 1 on the EWG Healthy Living app. They cary products for both body and hair. They even have a line for men and babies! While they do have cosmetics, I don’t know much about them and how good they are. I may just have to try them out soon! Read the story of the brand here.
My Favorite Shea Moisture Products
African Black Soap // $5.99
This seems to be their most popular product, and for good reason! You can use this as a full body wash and for your daily face wash (best used after you remove your makeup). Several reviews and peers will tell you that it helps tremendously with acne and it makes your skin SO soft. Get it on their website here or at Target in-store or online here.
Peace Rose Oil Complex Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Oil // $9.99
I love a cleansing oil. For me, it does so much more to clean off makeup and dirt, and I love the way it makes my skin feel. I haven’t been using this for that long, but using this followed by the African Black Soap has made my face feel SO smooth. It’s also worth mentioning that I have really sensitive skin, and this is really gentle on it. Get it on their website here or at Target in-store or online here.
3. Eco Tan
This one is super exciting. The name says it all. Tanning products. CLEAN and SAFE tanning products. Or as they like to put it “No Hidden Nasties.” In 2011, Eco Tan became the first and only tanning manufacturer to be certified organic by the Organic Food Chain under the Australian government. And guess what? Their stuff WORKS. You look natural, never orange, when you use their stuff. Read more about the company and their founder here.

My Favorite Eco Tan Product
Winter Skin // $29.95
So far, this is the only Eco Tan product I’ve tried, but I’m sold on them with this alone! Like Jergens? You’ll LOVE this. It’s the perfect gradual tanner that shows results after just two uses! And, of course, without the “nasties.” Jergens rates about a 6 on the Healthy Living app. A little too close to a 10 if you ask me. This stuff is certified organic, so really there’s no question about which to choose. Try it. You won’t regret it.
